Imprimatur (“let it be printed”) keeps the LaTeX of a paper in step with a Lean 4 development.
.tex files where a
Lean declaration should appear: a theorem statement, a definition, a set of
inference rules or a grammar. imprimatur renders that content from the
compiled Lean environment and splices it in place.sorry or a disallowed axiom, or changes its statement after an author
last checked the prose against it.The .tex files stay ordinary LaTeX, so they compile on Overleaf and arXiv
with no preprocessor. The host Lean project doesn’t need to change.
Early development (v0.3 in progress). imprimatur build renders Lean
declarations into a paper in four styles:
lean: the signature, as Lean prints it;math: the statement as typeset mathematics, using the paper’s own
notation;prose: the statement in words: “Let …. Assume …. Then …”;meta: the source location, axioms, sorry status and docstring.imprimatur check fails when a cited result:
sorry or a disallowed axiom;\leancheck and imprimatur accept, changes its meaning after
the prose was checked against it (see docs/trust.md).It works in all three modes: in-project, sidecar, and external, which leaves the host project untouched. See docs/blocks.md to set it up, docs/views.md for the output, and examples/ for three working papers, and docs/notation.md to write notation. Inference rules and grammars come next. PLAN.md gives the build order, and CONTRIBUTING.md explains how to work on the code. See DESIGN.md for:
